Peak District Photography Exhibition.
Wow! What an experience I have had over the past 6 months in my photography career. For a bit of context, I have been practicing photography for 8 years, at the end of July I quit my job to pursue it full time.
The simple act of believing in myself and trusting the process has opened so many doors and opportunities for me, including my first landscape photography exhibition.
While passing through the area, Castleton, I was drawn towards the Visitor Centre to see what information they had in there. It’s almost like a miniature museum for the Peak District, it’s really good. Noticing the various artworks and photography prints that were already in stock, I wondered what it would take to publish some of my own work in such a prestigious area. So, I simply asked the question to the amazing staff that were behind the counter and they gave a good direction to where I should go and who to speak to.
To my total surprise, it was perfect timing for a large space opening up and they were thinking about having some sort of temporary display. I was offered to have an exhibition on show, enough room to showcase my best work in front of the the perfect audience. I honestly can’t think of a better location for my exhibition. Thus, I got to work, preparing 30 of my favourite images in my portfolio, taken in the Peak District. I wanted to make sure that I did this as best as I could. No shortcuts on quality, utilising this amazing opportunity to present my self in the best manner.
All of my limited edition prints are completed on archival paper, quality checked by me, signed and include a certificate of authenticity. For my frames, they are all hand built, custom to the print so that it is professionally displayed. I use local business’s to help me with the production of my photographs, and I always will. I believe it is very important to empower your local community, both economically and socially. Slightly off topic, but I have recently joined Business Peak District too.
My work is on display up until Christmas, open every day at the Castleton Visitor Centre. Where you can choose to purchase a print, or 2025 Peak District Calendar. The support goes towards myself and the Peak District National Park foundation with a goal of conservation and making it a place for everyone to enjoy.
My two favourite images at the moment are, Royal Stag and Salt Storm, both are framed and on display. The conditions of the day of photography were just absolutely stunning. Both on opposite sides too. One being a passing storm on a windy gritstone edge. The other being in a hauntingly still, foggy woodland. But it’s these conditions that create great images, the atmosphere, the connection to the environment and the incredible memories made.
If you would like to see my display but cant make it in person, I have recently made a YouTube video which has a walkthrough at the end of the video. Feel free to watch it all though, I document the process of photographing the Peak District in sub zero conditions!
