Manifold Valley Sunrise

£85.00

Looking over the incredible Manifold Valley and Thor’s Cave. A perfect little spot, and a landscape photographer’s dream. Ecton hill is probably the most underrated location I can think of in the Peak District, mainly because it isn’t very well known. It’s a tricky one to get to, and not many public footpaths. However, there is a route up, very steep and not for the faint hearted. A 20-30 minute scramble which is only challenging because of the gradient. The terrain is good, and manageable with a few sheep trails to get grip on. This image is best taken with a drone from the bottom, if you can’t handle the hike. But there is room on top for a few people to set up and watch the most incredible sunrise light up the mist below. The cloud inversions here can be a little bit unpredictable, you might get a complete valley filler, right up to the top - or just a few wisps down by the trees. Either way it looks awesome.

Free parking is available, the location will be sent to you upon booking. From there we began the walk which is a short gradual incline, followed by a small decline. Then the climb begins. Once up there we will discuss many different techniques and likely stay for a couple of hours to see how the landscape changes under different lighting conditions. After the photography we will visit the local Tea Room, feel free to bring a laptop/ iPad and we can do a short editing session.

Throughout the day we will look at many techniques from beginner to advanced. A few examples could be selecting your camera settings, focus stacking and composing an image. Bracketing is also very important while photographing a sunrise.

I tailor my course to you, as best as I can. Assuring that you learn something new and ultimately come out with work to be proud of.

I welcome all questions, photography, location or hiking related. If you wish for some 1:1 guidance and time allows it, then by all means please ask. Not only is this a great opportunity to learn from a professional - but to meet like minded people and make new friends. I often stay in touch with most people from my workshops and share ideas together in a WhatsApp group (I will add you to it if that’s something you’re interested in)

The maximum spaces available will be 4, five people including me. This will allow me to make sure that everyone cant get the help they require and have their questions answered.

Upon booking, I will email you are a short questionnaire about your photography experience, to help me plan the day for you.
