Kinder Downfall, Frozen in Winter - Photography Workshop
A photography hike onto the Kinder Plateau in Winter can be dangerous depending on the conditions. However, this is where you get ‘The’ photo. Kinder Downfall can freeze over completely if it gets cold enough, inviting climbers and hikers to view the incredible scenery. When the light hits the downfall, it almost blows it out and makes it very difficult to photograph. Therefore, it is best to photo during sunrise or sunset. Sunrise will be the better option to make sure we get space for parking, and not having to walk back down in the dark. It does mean though, it will be a cold early start. Depending on the groups ability, it may take an hour and a half to get to the downfall, which gives us plenty of time to get to know each other and discuss some photography techniques. We will start at Kinder Reservoir, and work our way up from there. Some photography techniques may include how to guide the viewers eye to the focal point, how to simplify the scene. Creating a starburst on the sun, bracketing our images, and more.
I welcome all questions, photography, location or hiking related. If you wish for some 1:1 guidance and time allows it, then by all means please ask. Not only is this a great opportunity to learn from a professional - but to meet like minded people and make new friends. I often stay in touch with most people from my workshops and share ideas together in a WhatsApp group (I will add you to it if that’s something you’re interested in)
The maximum spaces available will be 4, five people including me. This will allow me to make sure that everyone cant get the help they require and have their questions answered.
Upon booking, I will email you are a short questionnaire about your photography experience, to help me plan the day for you.
