Peveril Castle Sunrise - Photography Workshop
Discover the rich heritage of Castleton, one of the most famous villages in The Peak District. Perched on top of Cave Dale, this incredible Castle makes a fantastic subject to your landscape photography. If we’re lucky, we could get a cloud inversion too, spilling over from Hope Valley. During this time of the year, they are quite common here so it wouldn’t surprise me if it happened.
This 11th century Castle Ruins has to be one of the best places in the Peak District, going back to the Battle of Hastings. After William the Conqueror won, and the Norman take over began, “William Peverel’s Castle” was recording in the Domesday book.
It’s not a difficult walk, but it can be a bit slippy and on uneven ground. If it has been raining, which is likely, the limestone is particularly slippy. It is important to walk with caution. Starting at Castleton Visitor Centre car park, we will make our way through the village, up to Cave Dale. While walking through here, we will pass the castle on our right hand side. Not far after that we will go up the side following a sheep track to get a good vantage point and prepare for sunrise.
Throughout the morning we will look at techniques ranging from beginner to advanced, some of these may be bracketing, how to compose an image, and camera settings. I also have extensive knowledge in the area so feel free to ask for any locations tips.
I tailor my course to you, as best as I can. Assuring that you learn something new and ultimately come out with work to be proud of.
I welcome all questions, photography, location or hiking related. If you wish for some 1:1 guidance and time allows it, then by all means please ask. Not only is this a great opportunity to learn from a professional - but to meet like minded people and make new friends. I often stay in touch with most people from my workshops and share ideas together in a WhatsApp group (I will add you to it if that’s something you’re interested in)
The maximum spaces available will be 4, five people including me. This will allow me to make sure that everyone cant get the help they require and have their questions answered.
Upon booking, I will email you are a short questionnaire about your photography experience, to help me plan the day for you.
